The Crucible of This Day.

Spare a thought for the people who have to keep candidates busy today.  It is one of the hardest days a campaign.  Most of the world treats it like a normal Monday and goes into its routine, which does not include gathering in large groups at events.  So candidates go on the prowl for any gathering a few or more.  Anything to give them a sense of motion.

What work there is to be done today is performed by others on the phones and organizing people on phones.  The candidate’s physical role in the campaign recedes today and most of tomorrow.  Nevertheless, they need to feel like they are at the center of the action because, well, they are politicians and this is their time.
