The Danchurian Candidate. Roberti Gets Some Scrutiny.

The Courant takes a look at Democratic Fifth Congressional District hopefulĀ Dan Roberti’s gauzy biography and finds it, er, embellished.
The origins of his fortune also remain a mystery. He’s paying off student loans while putting close to $1 million into his campaign. That sounds more like playing interest rates than genuine need. Even with the little information Roberti has provided, the only logical conclusion is that Roberti’s wealth comes from the millions his father has made as a lobbyist. If there is another explanation, Roberti has had plenty of time to offer it. That’s not likely to be forthcoming.
Something as simple as his employment status is not clear. Roberti says he’s on a leave of absence from a New York public relations and lobbying shop. The firm says Roberti left in January and is not on a leave of absence. This sort of trimming has become a pattern that is shaping impressions of the first-time candidate who is new to Connecticut politics.
