The Sound of Opportunity Knocking.
Richard Blumenthal’s been attorney general for 20 years, Nancy Wyman has been writing checks for the state as comptroller for 16, State Treasurer and Secretary of the State have been planted in office for a dozen. Longevity is the bane of the ambitious. The bottleneck has broken, so a great sorting of the ambitious, clever, and timid will occur in next 12 days.
So it makes sense that state Senator Gayle Slossberg (D-Milford) is taking a look at the comptroller’s nomination. This chance may not come again in a political generation. You can sit through years of dreary roll calls in the legislature and never have a realistic shot at higher office. This is the year to take a chance.
