Tong Hires Manager of Dodd Disaster. Picks NY Media Man, Author of “Derailed” and “Deceit” for Ads.

State Representative William Tong (D-Stamford) has hired Jim Jordan and Jimmy Siegel as the lead consultants in his bid for the 2012 Democratic nomination for the United State Senate seat being vacated by four-term incumbent Joseph Lieberman, Daily Ructions can report. Jordan managed John Kerry’s presidential campaign until he got the hook in the fall of 2003. With Jordan gone the Kerry campaign revived under the leadership of Mary Beth Cahill.

Jordan’s ties to Connecticut politics derive from former Senator Christopher J. Dodd’s calamitous vanity run for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination. That bid saw Dodd offend Connecticut voters by moving his family to Des Moines in the run-up to the Iowa caucuses. Dodd won one (1) of the 2,500 local delegates chosen on January 2, 2008. He withdrew from the race the next day.

Media duties, should any be required, will be provided by Jimmy Siegel, who worked on the Eliot Spitzer and Hillary Clinton campaigns. Siegel also worked on New York City Comptroller John Liu’s 2009 campaign, providing the sort of soft biographical pieces that Tong, the first–though not only–Asian American to win a seat in the Connecticut legislature will find gratifying and appealing.
