Un-American Activities in Massachusetts?

Governor Dannel P. Malloy must be ready to call out the Governor’s Foot Guard to invade Massachusetts after what the commonwealth’s House of Representatives did this week.  Oh, the horror! Oh, the humanity!

The House, with an overwhelming Democratic majority, voted to take away municipal employees right to bargain over healthcare benefits. The Boston Globe reports the effort to make the change “was led by Democrats who have traditionally stood with labor to oppose any reduction in workers’ rights.”

While the Massachusetts bill does not go as far as Wisconsin, it’s a dramatic change in the Bay State, suggesting the nation’s rendezvous with reality is occurring in unexpected places.

Malloy, serving a dish from his overflowing buffet of opinions, called the Wisconsin legislation “Un-American.” No pronouncements yet on the Massachusetts stunner.
