Whoops! Groton Democrat Disputes Bysiewicz Endorsement Claim. Where is Hometown Groundswell?
Former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz’s United States Senate campaign today announced endorsements from several dozen Democrats, mostly local town committee members. The list was heavy on locals from the fractious Enfield town committee, so battle lines must be being drawn in the town where politics never sleeps.
Bysiewicz, who can struggle with simple political matters, claims the endorsement of Susan Dunbar-Rose, identified as Chair, Groton DTC. It didn’t take long for a tweet to appear from the Groton Democrats disputing the Dunbar-Rose designation. The Groton DTC chair is Dave Ferreira, who has not endorsed Bysiewicz.
The Bysiewicz list suggests she may be struggling to round up supporters at home in Middletown. Only two locals are included, a couple of town committee members, one of whom leads the local zoning board. Rival Murphy campaign must be delighted with what could become a lethal opening.

Don’t tell me Suzie can’t keep her political database updated anymore now that she no longer has state employees to do it for her. How about a few young Updike associates, Suzie?? Oh shoot, they’re probably too busy writing your briefs and going to court for you.
Shirley Dunbar-Rose is a Groton Dem chair. But she is chair of the city, which is a subdivision of the Town (much like Noank). The city Dems have no vote at the Dem convention. So it’s a true statement that a Groton Dem chair endorsed Bysiewicz, but not the Groton Dem chair who counts. It is confusing. Bysiewicz was truthful, but it’s a somewhat misleading and meaningless endorsement.
Apparently, she’s also not engaged in the active practice of being well-informed.
