Ding dong! Ding dong! Christmas arrived early at Daily Ructions as Snow White departs with a harrumph. The ethics governor muttered her death wish for my vocabulary–and me– at this morning’s Middlesex Chamber of Commerce Christmas breakfast. And what a big word she used! (Thesaurus: A noun. A book that lists words in groups of synonyms and related concepts.) That must have required some rehearsal time away from her heavy schedule of reading days.

Don’t be so mean. Just be glad she is paying attention to your column and blog. It is worse to be ignored. We should all wish her well and look forward to the new energy and ideas that her successor will bring to the office.
You have convinced me that our Governor was lazy, utterly lacking curiosity. I believe that she has a very limited understanding of what a governor can do. The unsettling thought is, given all of that, why would she so blindly follow her chief of staff.
She threw personal accolades at herself for restoring “ethical government” to the state of CT following her predecessor’s forced resignation due to ethics problems that she claimed she knew nothing about prior to his public unraveling. Yeah… right.
Once in a while – because I need to listen to the frequent traffic reports on WTIC-AM – I catch snipets of the insipid “State & Church” radio talk show featuring convicted felon John Rowland and his side-kick, Pastor Will Marotti, and I am amused by the fact that Rowland voices nothing but contempt for the woman who he himself selected to serve as his Lt. Governor and who ultimately succeeded him. She only cared about her approval ratings and certainly cared nothing for the well-being of the people living and trying desperately to eek out a living n the fiscally devastated state of CT. I feel sorry for Dan Malloy, who is stuck with the fiscal mess she left behind as she rides off into the sunset with a fat CT state pension that she will probably take with her to another state. The irony is, she NEVER ran the state government … she left that task to her hugely feared Chief of Staff. No ashes off her cigar, however…. every resident of CT will be payng for her mismanagement in the coming years for God knows how long.
